Department for Transport

Consulting on the Department’s Champions and Networks Conference

The Department for Transport invited us to provide consultancy support for the Department’s Champions and Networks Conference in London. We had previously delivered equality, diversity and inclusion training to various groups in the Department, including their BME and LGBT staff networks.

Challenges

The London event brought together Chief Executives, Champions and staff networks. The aim was to celebrate successes, encourage collaboration, and drive forward the diversity agenda across the Department.

Our consultants provided guidance on effective diversity communications. To do so, we drew on decades of experience in the sector working for the likes of Transport for London, London Underground, Highways England, Crossrail, Invensys and Network Rail.

Our Chief Executive, Jane Farrell, presented to the conference on Building Inclusive Teams.

Jane’s message centred around how diversity best practice is indivisible from business excellence and real cultural change. Our cross-disciplinary approach included case studies from other government departments and agencies, as well as market-leaders from the private sector, as exemplars of good diversity practice.
