Queen's Counsel

Addressing unconscious bias in the selection of QCs

The Queen’s Counsel Selection Panel is the independent body charged with appointing the UK’s senior barristers to the title of QC. Acting as a critical friend, EW Group conducted a review of the policies and processes involved in the Panel’s selection and award procedure.

Our initial diagnostic work led to further training and briefing sessions on best practice techniques in recruitment and selection, and how best to positively address diversity issues in the criminal justice sector.

Our work with the Panel since has included a review of policy and progress, reflecting on what QC Appointments already do well and identifying areas for further development.
