Diversity and Inclusion Consultant
Yvonne Howard has experience in the transportation, construction, engineering and built environment sectors, as well as local government. Yvonne was the lead consultant for our Building an Inclusive Culture programme at British Land, where we trained all 250 members of staff. She also heads up our Inclusive Cultures Management programme at RSA Insurance Group. Yvonne has worked with other prominent EW Group clients, including Westfield, Ocado Technology, HS2 and Highways England.
Elsewhere, Yvonne has delivered workshops as part of our diversity mentoring programme for the BBC to address chronic under-representation of Black, Asian and minority ethnic staff at senior grades. She’s also contributed to our practical guide to Cultural Change for Arts Council England. Yvonne has led unconscious bias in recruitment and selection training at Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust, and Harrow Council.
She is closely involved with several programmes focused on getting more women into technology and engineering. As the interim Director of Group Equality and Inclusion, Yvonne helped Transport for London attain the Opportunity Now Gold standard for improvements in gender equality. She received the prestigious Women’s Transportation Award for her efforts. She also increased TfL’s position from 59th to 6th in the Stonewall LGBT Workforce Equality Index.
Yvonne has previously served as a Diversity Specialist for Crossrail. Her specialities in planning and accessibility can be evidenced in her work as lead Access Consultant for RNIB, where she worked on major projects such as the Bluewater Shopping and the Stonehenge Visitor Centre. Yvonne has also led a two-year research project to produce design guidance for the construction industry.
