Accessibility

We want to make sure our website is as accessible and easy to use as we can for everyone. We have used the accessibility features in Adobe XD to ensure the site has a good level of contrast and font sizes so that it is usable for visitors with a range of sight abilities. Adobe XD aims to conform to the AA success criteria for accessibility as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium WCAG 2.1 guidelines. In addition to this the website has been tested against WCAG 2.1 standards using the following tools:

  • SortSite – an automated web accessibility testing tool used by federal agencies, Fortune 100 corporations and independent consultancies. The tool executes 350 plus tests covering A & AA guidelines. File formats such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PDF, GIF & Word are checked for accessibility.
  • JAWs – Job Access With Speech, the most commonly used screen reader globally. JAWS triggers speech output for computer applications.
  • NVDA – The most commonly used screen reader in the UK. Reports textual formatting where available such as font name style, size & spelling errors as well as automatic announcement of text under the mouse.

In addition, our website uses Recite Me assistive technology. Recite Me provides the functions users need to understand and engage with the website. Via the web accessibility toolbar, adjustments can be made to all elements of the page including text, graphics, language, and navigation.
