Inclusivity and Decisions
Inclusive teams make better business decisions up to 87% of the time
39% of job applicants have turned down a job due to a perceived lack of inclusion at the organisation involved
Towards systemic inclusion
What do we mean by inclusive cultures at work? And why are they so important?
An inclusive culture is one in which people and teams understand and adapt effectively to their social and cultural differences. These points of difference could stem from any aspect of workplace EDI, including protected characteristics, as well as other factors like class or educational background. In this sense, an inclusive culture captures a spirit of equity and belonging beyond what’s instantly apparent.
Inclusive leaders and managers display high levels of cultural adaptability and are experts in cross-cultural communication. They’re able to successfully address unconscious bias, defuse challenging behaviours, and demonstrate resilience in the face of organisational change. And they’re 3.5 times more likely to get the full potential out of the people who work for them.
Our Inclusive Cultures Pathway
Building inclusive cultures with the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI)
It’s now possible to measure and develop the inclusive working skills of your individuals and teams using the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) psychometric. We use this tool to map your levels of cultural awareness and adaptability against our Inclusive Cultures Pathway. This scale neatly highlights where you are now and where you want to be, giving you measurable targets to aim for in your learning and development. Here’s how it works in practice:
- Pre-IDI briefing (individual or group) to orientate users with the approach, principles and aims of the process
- Completion of 30-min online IDI psychometric
- Group IDI results workshop, if applicable
- One-to-one feedback and coaching sessions for individuals based on IDI results
- Delivery of full IDI report
- Continue building inclusive cultures with our pathway and development tools
